Night Safari In the Wild
To be in a ZOO might not be great ,specially on the other side of the Cage .Nor is it too pleasing to see the animals stuffed into cages - only offering bare space for movement .But here in Sing i noticed a greater difference to the conventional theme of a zoo .Back home ,i have always wondered-why are our zoos deserted ? - not of lack of animals but of people .Whats all the difference that make the Zoo a national attraction in singapore !! let me take you through my trip there last weekend .Me and two of my erstwhile collegues hit this idea of going to the "much talked about zoo".We arrived among the animals just about noon .my expectations were normal considering that a zoo is a zoo is a zoo and nothing great -maybe some new animals and thats all .We entered through the main check point - into the zoo perimeter, just to be welcomed by a huge poster announcing the arrival of their newest guest - the giraffe !!! phew! i thought what people ? who advertise a giraffe as though a dinosaur !As we entered, we came through a foto shoot session .There was a girl and lot of colourful parrots perched around her .Thats nice marketing i thought - u could also feed the birds and take fotos with them( or the girl - which ever u please) .Also at the other end there was the Oranguttan - conveniently settled on a post -or maybe a python -? .U can let the python slither around you -but mind you, the python would have weighed a handsome 20kgs .There were no cages as such, instead there were huge pits dugged out around the clearing for the animals .The animals could, if not in real sense - breathe free air .The special attraction was the polar bear- inuka .He is cuddly and 15 years old and weighs 700kgs!!And u know what he gets ? An aircon cave , a private pool at near freezing point and lots of fish to eat .Man what a life!!! He did some stunts like catching a live fish , clapping hands and dancing- yes dancing, belly dance to be precise !In all he was very entertaining .Then we went to the lion area .There were a good number (say) seven and all hungry and ready to be fed .Thanks to the wide chasm between us and the lions, we were safe !We let the lions enjoy their food and proceeded to the zebras,wild dogs,ostritch,giraffe and numerous other animals whose names i cannot recollect .The best part was the zoo was themed into zones such as the fragile forest, the cat world,the reptiles etc .And in all these u could locate particular set of animals .There is a great length of information to be shared and so i'll be writting in parts ........to be continued !
